Sandy's disaster has caused people to take advantage of the local stores, and disrespecting their towns.
"People were running in and out of Rent-A-Center carrying these big flat screens."
With all of the disaster and people being cleared out, others are taking advantage of it and breaking in and stealing.
Nobody is there to arrest them because they are trying to keep people safe from the storm.
"They broke right in through the roof while the cops were standing outside."
The guys broke in through the top of the liquor store and stole so many bottles of liquor.
Instead of trying to help out during this disaster, tons of people are just making it worse.
People should have more respect, store owners are already having to deal with the hurricane damage.

Keep Your Social Networks Clean

        This passage I read explains how having inappropriate pictures or post on different social media websites can effect getting the job you want. I agree that social webpages should be kept clean and appropriate.

        "Your first impression isn't made with a firm handshake-- it is with a google search." I agree with this statement. Now that technology plays such a big role in our lives it can also effect your life. When going for a job interview before you even get there they can know so much about you just from what it posted online. Yes, it is okay to take fun pictures on the weekends, but it is not okay to be posting them for the public eye. If your page is full with bad things they wont want to hire you because A- they have a bad impression of you and B- it can also make them look bad. "70 % of the US business managers say they decided not to hire a job candidate based upon something they found online." 70 is a high percentage of bosses to not hire because of something that could be fixed so easily. If the boss sees rude post about your last job or last boss then he may see you as a disrespectful worker. If the boss was to come across drunk pictures he may assume that you're a big partier and wont always show for work. I can relate to this from when my sister was going through rush to be in a sorority. One of the things they would do was go look through the facebook pages and twitter pages of the girls that were pledging. They were looking for clean pages not pages with junk on their. My sister got accepted and the next year she was one of the ones having to check out the girls social networks. She said "It is crazy how much of a difference it makes from having a clean or inappropriate page."

        If it is just as simple as deleting a few pictures and post off your pages to make them clean then why not do it? Its a good idea and can help your reputation and jobs if you do so.

6 Year Old Beats Up Teacher

         Who would think a 6 year old boy could beat up a two hundred and twenty pound gym teacher? Rodrigo Carpio has tried to hurt many people at the school and finally did. It does not matter if the person is six or seventeen. In my opinion they need to be diciplined. I think the parents have a lot to do with how kids will act at school.

        Rodrigo Carpio is a six year old that has been described as "an angel devil sort of thing" because of his sweet looks, but horrible behavior. Rodrigo has already kicked the school princible and pinched other individuals, including the school security officer. Rodrigo now has charges pressed against for actually damaging the gym teachers knee. "He kicked me in the ankle, and one kick landed right on my knee. I felt a pop," says gym teacher, Mr. Webster. I think they have every right to press charges, but Corpios dad thinks differerent. "This lawsuit is totally absurd." I disagree with his dad. This child already got away with physically hurting other members of the school faculty. He does not need to get by with damaging the teachers knee. I do understand where they could think that pressing charges on such a young kid is not necessary because he is only six, but discipline is definitely needed. The gym teacher tried holding on to the kid so he could not do anything, but he couldn't control the kid kicking him. This also ties in with parenting. For the dad to think his child should not be in trouble for this maybe shows what kind of parenting they apply. I know that if I were to do something like that in school even if I was that young, I would have been in twice as much trouble at home then at school.

        Different situations like this happen all the time. Of course a teacher can not do anything physically back to the child because of the young age. This is why something needs to happen through the law. Kicking people because you're mad or in trouble is not acceptable. If Rodrigo would have already got in trouble by his parents and teachers at school, then this probably would not have occured again.

               The Texting Issues

   Texting has became so popular in the last years, but it has some disadvantages in my opinion. I think texting can mess up communication and cause misunderstandings.

   The text "We never talk anymore: The problem with text messaging" says "The number of text messages sent monthly in the US exploded from 14 billion in 2000, to 188 billion in 2010." That shows how much the rate of texting is going up. I agree that we, as in the US people, text more than what is necessary. This can cause bad communication skills and can be bad for relationships. The text says, "Habitual texters may not only cheat on their existing relationship, they can also limit their ability to form future one since they don't get to practice the art of interpreting nonverbal visual cues." If you have hurt somebody in some way all you do in type "sorry" then send it. That is not a sincere apology. If you need to apologize to someone it needs to be a real apology that is sincere. I think people have gotten so used to texting about their problems that they are scared to talk about them in person. Also just texting "Happy Birthday" does not have the same meaning as actually calling them and telling them happy birthday so they can hear your voice. By texting them you are just talking the easy way out, but calling or visiting them has much more meaning.  

   I think texting does have some advantages but over all I think texting causes communication skills to lower and causes thing to not have as much meaning.

WTC

The new World Trade Center is lager and better with more to offer. Even though its not the twin towers it still is great. Sadly then twin towers are gone but this is also safer.

The new WTC is "1,776 ft tall. That reperesents the year we got freedom." The WTC cost 3 billion but hopefully it will be worth it in the end. This is the tallest building in the US.

The new building is much safer. "They are incredibly strong structurally." The building is built alot stronger this time. "You have three foot thick concrete walls, and you see them right in front of you, that encase all of the safety and existing systems of the entire building- the stairways, the elevators, all of the standpipes that bring water, communications." Even though some people will still be scared to work there it is much safer and built for emercency exits.

Savages by Don winslow
I saw the movie of this book and I loved it! I heard the book is even better than the movie so i decided to read it. The movie was very suspensful and I love suspense. I also love cali and thats where most of it takes place.

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Many people have told me this is such a good book. I like reading about relationships and this is relationships with action. I didnt see the movie but i heard it was really good too. Thats why i want to read Hunger games.

Alphas by Lisi Harrison
I like reading girly books or books about being a teenager because i can relate to it. I wanted to read this book because I have read other Lisi Harrison books and really enjoyed them.

City of Quartz by Mike Davis
Savages was one of my favorite movies and so far favorite book, which was about a drug cartel. That is why I picked this book because is is similar and that subject is interesting and entertaining to me. I like learning about it bevause its crazy things like that go on.

The Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum
I want to read this book because when i was little I watched this movie over and over again. It was my favorite. I want to read the book to compare it with the movie.

Grease
Grease is a really old movie and its a love story. The movie was great and I like watching movies and then reading the book to compare the two. This is why I want to read Grease.

TTYL
TTYL is a book that looks like text messages throughout almost the whole book. It even uses all the texting acronyms. I would like to read a book, I think it would be more interesting than just reading paragraphs all the time.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Since I want to read Hunger Games I also want to read this. I have heard its just as good as the first one and it sounds interesting.

Mocking Jay by suzanne Collins
I want to read the whol hunger games series and this is the last books so I want to read it. I have heard the whole series is great.

Some Like it Better Dark
Again i like reading girly books and this is girly so thats why i want to read it. Its about girls in high school going to prom so i can relate to it. I have liked her other books so I think I will like this one too.

Forgiveness

No, I would not forgive Captain Smith. When people were yelling "iceburgs!" he should have took caution. But instead he just kept going with out decreasing speed or anything. He killed lots of innocent people and children too. They had to suffer in the cold water and drown so no I would not forgive him.

Pity

No I dont think he deserves any pity. "Then from the windows fell burning bodies." Innocent people are dying because he bombed the building. People that he didnt even know were dying and having to jump out of the windows. "I dont know how many tired to jumo out of the windows". So many people were having to jump out of the windows. The people that had to see it said it haunts them.

forgiveness

I think if a young woman actually has a reason to have an abortion then they should be able to be forgiven. Sometimes having an abortion could make things better. If the baby is going to have a bad life and the mother isnt going to be able to take care of it then I think she could be forgiven. If the girl intended to get pregnant and then had an abortion its different. But accidents can happen and so in some situations girls can be forgivin for that.
